As a component of membership in the EPA Performance Track program, Covanta Bristol, Inc. completes an Annual Performance Report in which it demonstrates to EPA and the public its environmental accomplishments over the year, its continued high level of environmental performance, and its maintenance of the Performance Track membership criteria.
Covanta Bristol, Inc. provides escorted tours of the facility to anyone interested in learning more about the Resource Recovery Facility process. The facility has hosted tours for students from local grade schools, high schools, universities and colleges, various civic and community organizations, and our customers. Covanta Bristol, Inc. is an active member in the Connecticut Business & Industry Association (CBIA) Environmental Policies Council. CBIA is the largest statewide business organization in the country, with 10,000 member companies. It provides a voice of business and industry at the state Capitol. The Environmental Policies Council meets on a monthly basis to discuss environmental issues and regulations that could affect industry and the community. CBIA’s highly respected public policy staff works with state legislators and officials to help shape specific laws and to promote a regulatory system that responds to businesses’ concerns.
Covanta Bristol, Inc. conducts a “Hauler Safety Appreciation Day” for all the haulers that conduct business at the Facility. This day includes lunch for the drivers, various prizes based on Safety quiz results, media coverage, and invited dignitaries from the Covanta Family and the various Regulatory Agencies in Connecticut.
