Covanta Hennepin is committed to being an active and supportive community member. Covanta believes it has a responsibility to give back to the community by investing in communities where we operate; providing jobs for local residents; and supporting education, the environment, social and economic development. Over the past 17 years, we have been a sponsor of many public, private and non-profit organizations. Sponsorship has included in-kind donations of monetary funds, equipment, and/or time and labor.
Covanta Hennepin is also committed to providing those living in the community with a better understanding of the benefits of their neighborhood resource recovery facility. If there are any community concerns regarding the facility or its operation, please contact us using the information found in the “Contact Us” section of this website.
As a component of membership in the EPA Performance Track program, Covanta Hennepin completes an Annual Performance Report in which it demonstrates to EPA and the public its environmental accomplishments over the year, its continued high level of environmental performance, and its maintenance of the Performance Track membership criteria.
Covanta Hennepin, in partnership with Hennepin County Environmental Services, provides escorted tours of the facility to anyone interested in learning more about the Waste-to-Energy process. The facility has hosted tours for students from local grade schools, high schools, universities and colleges, various civic and community organizations, and our customers. For additional information or to schedule a tour, please refer to the “Tours” section of this website.
