The Lake County Resource Recovery Facility, located in the middle of the State of Florida, south of Leesburg, began commercial operation in March 1991. The facility processes a total of 528 tons-per-day of solid waste while generating up to 14.5 megawatts of renewable energy that is sold to Florida Power Corporation.
