FAIRFIELD, NJ, APRIL 7, 2008 – Covanta Holding Corporation (NYSE: CVA), a world leader in the development and operation of large scale Energy-from-Waste and renewable energy projects, today announced the appointment of Paul Gilman to the newly-created position of Senior Vice President and Chief Sustainability Officer at its principal subsidiary, Covanta Energy Corporation. Mr. Gilman’s appointment is effective immediately.
Mr. Gilman previously was Founding Director of the Oak Ridge Center for Advanced Studies, a collaborative effort of several prominent universities and the Oak Ridge National Laboratory focused on societal issues with scientific and engineering content. Prior to starting the Oak Ridge Center in 2004, Mr. Gilman was Assistant Administrator for Research and Development at the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency, and held senior policy positions in the public and private sectors, including positions at the National Academy of Sciences, the U.S. Department of Energy and the White House Office of Management and Budget.
