The Onondaga County Resource Recovery Facility began commercial operation in February 1995, for the Onondaga County Resource Recovery Agency (OCRRA), which controls the waste flow in the County and the greater Syracuse region. The facility processes 990 tons per day of municipal solid waste, generating up to 39.5 megawatts of renewable energy that is sold to National Grid. The facility is equipped with an air-cooled condenser used for condensing turbine exhaust.
