Covanta Lee, Inc. is committed to being an active and supportive community member. Over the past 13 years, it has been a sponsor of many public, private and non-profit organizations. Sponsorship has included in-kind donations of monetary funds, equipment, and/or time and labor.

As a component of membership in the EPA Performance Track program, Covanta Lee completes an Annual Performance Report in which it demonstrates to EPA and the public its environmental accomplishments over the year, its continued high level of environmental performance, and its maintenance of the Performance Track membership criteria. Covanta Lee, Inc works with Lee County to provide escorted tours of the facility to anyone interested in learning more about the Energy-from-Waste process. The facility has hosted tours for students from local grade schools, high schools, universities and colleges, various civic and community organizations, and our customers. Covanta Lee is an active member in Keep Lee County Beautiful which supports many “clean up” days. Additionally Covanta Lee is represented in Rotary South part of an international organization that raises money for worthy needs both locally and worldwide.
In conjunction with the Lee County public school system, as part of the standard curriculum many eighth graders throughout the county are educated through a field trip to the facility on the important part waste-to-energy plays in the County’s integrated solid waste management system.
Annually Environmental Mini Grants are awarded to many Lee County teachers through Covanta’s support of the Foundation for Lee County Public Schools. These mini grants have made a great difference too many students that would not have been possible with out Covanta’s community involvement.
