SHARP is a voluntary program instituted for smaller companies which consistently exceed regulatory requirements at their facilities, work closely with their communities, and excel in protecting the environment and public health. SHARP is a partnership that recognizes top environmental performance among participating U.S. facilities of all types and complexity, limited only by company size. Covanta Pittsfield, LLC is currently applying for the equally prestigious VPP status due to its change in ownership.
