Community Outreach

Covanta Stanislaus, Inc. is committed to being an active and supportive community member. Covanta believes it has a responsibility to give back to the community by investing in communities where we operate; providing jobs for local residents; and supporting education, the environment, social and economic development. Covanta Stanislaus Inc. has been a sponsor of many public, private and non-profit organizations. Sponsorship has included in-kind donations of monetary funds, equipment, and/or time and labor.

Covanta Stanislaus, Inc. is also committed to providing those living in the community with a better understanding of the benefits of their neighborhood resource recovery facility. As a component of membership in the EPA Performance Track program, Covanta Stanislaus, Inc. completes an Annual Performance Report in which it demonstrates to EPA and the public its environmental accomplishments over the year, its continued high level of environmental performance, and its maintenance of the Performance Track membership criteria.

Covanta Stanislaus, Inc. provides escorted tours of the facility to anyone interested in learning more about the Waste-to-Energy process. The facility has hosted tours for students from local grade schools, high schools, universities and colleges, various civic and community organizations, and our customers. Covanta Stanislaus Inc. is a large sponsor and supporter of the annual Earth Day in the Park, an event that brings together all businesses in the local community that contribute to saving the Earth’s resources. This is a free event that allows community members to learn about the recycling and other positive programs being implemented by the local businesses.

Covanta Stanislaus has been an active participant in the “United Way” campaign to raise money for community programs. Members of the facility staff have participated in Clean-up days in neighborhoods and along the local river systems. A staff member also was a member on the local board of directors, helping to guide the local organizations efforts.

Covanta Stanislaus Inc. was also represented on the Tuolumne River Regional Park Advisory committee for several years. This regional park covers three different Cities and is a vital focal point for those communities. This park allows community members to enjoy the natural habitats found along the river.
